Where found: Low elevation, moist forests; west side of Cascade Crest

The Western Hemlock Life Zone is the classic old-growth forest of the Pacific Northwest. Plants depend on and receive high amounts of rainfall throughout the year, especially in winter. Snowfall is common, but not abundant.
